He prayed feverishly for
God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the
horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut
out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements,
and to store his few possessions. But then one day,
after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his
little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky.
The worst had happened - everything was lost. He was
stunned with grief and anger. "God, how could you do
this to me?" he cried. Early the next day, however, he
was awakened by the sound of a ship that was
approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.
"How did you know I was here?"asked the weary man of
his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they
replied.

It's easy to get discouraged sometimes when things
appear to be going badly. But we shouldn't lose heart,
because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst
of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little
hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke
signal that summons the grace of God.

For all the negative things we have to say to
ourselves, God has a positive answer for it.

You say, "It's impossible".
God says: "All thing are possible". (Luke 18:27)

You say, "I'm too tired."
God says: "I will give you rest". (Matt 11:28-20)

You say, "Nobody really loves me".
God says: "I love you". (John 3:16 - John 13:34)

You say, "I can't go on."
God says: "My grace is sufficient." (II Cor. 12:9 -
Psalm 91:15)

You say, "I can't figure things out."
God says: "I will direct your steps." (Proverbs
3:5-6)

You say, "I can't do it."
God says: "You can do all things in Me." (Phil 4:13)

You say, "It's not worth it."
God says: "It will be worth it." (Romans 8:28)

You say, "I can't forgive myself."
God says: "I forgive you." (I John 1:9 - Romans 8:1)

You say, "I can't manage."
God says: "I will supply all your needs." (Phil
4:19)

You say, "I'm afraid."
God says: "I have not given you a spi rit of fear."
(II Tim. 1:7)

You say, "I'm always worried and frustrated".
God says: "Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter 5:7)

You say, "I don't have enough faith."
God says: "I've given everyone a measure of faith."
(Romans 12:3)

You say, "I'm not smart enough."
God says: "I give you wisdom." (I Cor. 1:30)

You say, "I feel all alone."
God says: "I will never leave you or forsake you."
(Heb. 13:5)

Jesus promised His disciples He would come again. It's in the Bible, John 14:1-3, TLB. "Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in Me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with Me where I am. If this weren't so, I would tell you plainly. And you know where I am going and how to get there."

The angels promised Jesus would come again. It's in the Bible, Acts 1:10-11, TLB. "It was not long afterwards that He rose into the sky and disappeared into a cloud, leaving them staring after Him. As they were straining their eyes for another glimpse, suddenly two white-robed men were standing there among them, and said, 'Men of Galilee, why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has gone away to heaven, and some day, just as He went, He will return!'"

How will Jesus come again? It's in the Bible, Luke 21:27, NIV. "At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."

How many will see Him when He comes? It's in the Bible, Revelation 1:7, NIV. "Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him."

What will we see and hear when He comes? It's in the Bible, I Thessalonians 4:16-17, NIV. "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air."

How visible is His coming to be? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:27, NIV. "For as the lightening comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man."

What warning has Christ given so we won't be fooled about the second coming? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:23-26, NIV. "At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!’ or 'There He is!’ do not believe it. For false Christ's and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, 'There He is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here He is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it."

Does anyone know the exact time of Christ's coming? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:36, NIV. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Knowing how human it is to procrastinate, what does Christ tell us to do? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:42, NIV. "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."

What warning has Christ given that we might not be taken by surprise by this great event? It's in the Bible, Luke 21:34-36, TLB. "Watch out! Don't let My sudden coming catch you unawares; don't let Me find you living in careless ease, carousing and drinking, and occupied with the problems of this life, like all the rest of the world. Keep a constant watch."

Why is Jesus second coming taking so long? It's in the Bible, II Peter 3:8-9, TLB. "But don't forget this, dear friends, that a day or a thousand years from now is like tomorrow to the Lord. He isn't really being slow about His promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way. But He is waiting, for the good reason that He is not willing that any should perish, and He is giving more time for sinners to repent."

While we wait for Jesus, how should we live? It's in the Bible, Titus 2:11-14, NIV. "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say 'No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good."

What will the world be like when Jesus comes? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:37-39, NIV. "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."

Will Christ's coming be a time of reward? It's in the Bible, Matthew 16:27 and Revelation 22:12, NIV. "For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done." "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done."

Why is Jesus coming back? It's in the Bible, Hebrews 9:28, TLB. "So also Christ died only once as an offering for the sins of many people; and He will come again, but not to deal again with our sins. This time He will come bringing salvation to all those who are eagerly and patiently waiting for Him."

At Jesus' second coming, we will fully experience the reality of our salvation. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 1:7-8, TLB. "Now you have every grace and blessing; every spiritual gift and power for doing His will are yours during this time of waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. And He guarantees right up to the end that you will be counted free from all sin and guilt on that day when He returns."

I cry out to God without holding back.
Oh, that God would listen to me!.
When I was in deep trouble,
I searched for the Lord.
All night long I pray, with hands lifted
toward heaven, pleading.
There can be no joy for me until he acts.
I think of God, and I moan,
overwhelmed with longing for his help.
You don't let me sleep.
I am too distressed even to pray!
I think of the good old days, long since ended,
when my nights were filled with joyful songs.
i search my soul and think about the difference now.
Has the Lord rejected me forever?
Will he never again show me favour?
Is his unfailing love gone forever?
Have his promises permanently failed?
Has God forgotten to be kind?
Has he slammed the door on his compassion?
And i said, "This is my fate, that the blessings
of the Most High have changed to hatred."
I recall all You have done O Lord,
I remember Your wonderful deeds long ago.
They are constantly in my thoughts.
I cannot stop thinking about them.
O God, Your ways are Holy.
Is there any God as mighty as You?
You are the God of miracles and wonders!
You demonstrate your awesome power amongst nations.
You have redeemed Your people by Your strength,
the decendants of Jacob and of Joseph by Your might.
When the Red sea saw You, O God,
its waters looked and trembled!
The sea quacked to its very depths.
The clouds poured down their rain,
the thunder rolled and crackled in the sky.
Your arrows of lightning flashed.
Your thunder roared from the whirlwind,
the lightning lit up the world!
The earth trembled and shool.
Your road led through the sea,
Your pathways through the mighty waters,
a pathway no one knew was there!
You led Your people along that road
like a flock of sheep,
with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.

Psalm 77

Just some stuff to look at *O.O*

Loook backk to the 1500's!!

Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May
and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell
so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the
custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house
had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men,
then the women and finally the children-last of all the babies. By then the
water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it.Hence the saying,
"Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."

Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath.
It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the dogs, cats and
other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it
became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof.
Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."

There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a
real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could really
mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung
over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into
existence.

The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence
the saying "dirt poor."

The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when
wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing.
As the winter wore on, they kept adding more thresh until when you opened
the door it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in
the entranceway.Hence the saying a "thresh hold."

In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always
hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the
pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat
the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and
then start over the next day. Sometimes the stew had food in it that had
been there for quite a while.Hence the rhyme, "Peas porridge hot, peas
porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old."

Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When
visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a
sign of wealth that a man "could bring home the bacon." They would cut off
a little to share with guests and would all sit around and "chew the fat."

Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content
caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning and
death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or
so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.

Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the
loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or "upper crust."

Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination would sometimes
knock them out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would
take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the
kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and
eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of
holding a "wake."

England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places
to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a
"bone-house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25
coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized
they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a string
on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the
ground and tie it to a bell.Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard
all night (the "graveyard shift") to listen for the bell; thus, someone
could be "saved by the bell" or was considered a "dead ringer."

hmmm... its sooo gonna rain again. i can tell. so, lets do another topic!. hmm. i got one.

why do we have to live a Purpose-Driven Life?.

well.. knowing your purpose in life give meaning to your life!. We were made to have a meaning right. The is practically the reason why people try funny methods like astrology or psychics to discover the purpose of life. when life has meaning, we can bear almost anything!. however, without it, nothing is bearable. Without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning!. without meaning, life has no significance or hope. The greatest tragedy is not death, but suprisingly, life without purpose. HOPE is as essential to our lives as air and water. We need hope to cope! *haha ryhmes.

knowing your purpose also simplifies your life?. yes yes indeed. It defines what you do and what you don't do. Your purpose becomes the standard you use to evaluate which activities are essential and which aren't. Without a purpose, you have no foundation on which you base decisions, allocate your time and use your resources. You'll tend to make choices based on circumstances, pressures and your own mood. People who don't know their purpose try to do toooo much and that causes stress! fatique! and confliict!

knowing your purpose focuses your life. agree? agree?. It concentrates your effort and energy on whats important. You beocme effective by being selective!. Its human nature to be distracted by other issues. Without a clear purpose, you'll keep changing directions, jobs, schools, relationships, even churches, hoping each change would settle the confusion or fill the emptiness of your heart. However!, it doesnt solve the real problem that is, a lack of focus and purpose. The focus power can be seen in light. Diffused light has little power or impact, but, you can concentrate its energy by focusing its light rays. With a magnifying glass, the light rays of the sun can be focused to set a pices of paper on fire! *wooosh!* when even more is focused, a laser beam can cut through steel!. If you want your life to have impact, focus it! Put aside matters which are not so serious. Never confuse activity with productivity!.

i guess thats all for today. too much to remember haha. hey, this might become a fixed thingy, ill add some topics in everydae..

oh what a gloomy day.. rain rain rain.. all day long since like 12.15am till like umm. i dunno its still raining right*peeps outside*. yar it is.. and the clouds are back. uh oh.. more gloomy weather to come. rain=no going out.. slack at home.. blah.. well, lets see. lets start a topic then. Take about 10 minutes to digest this.

What Drives your Life?

hmm.. good question, first, lets define the verb drive. "to control, to guild, to direct". so, what is the driving force in our lives?.well. many people are driven by guilt. They spend their entire lives running from regrets and hiding their shame. Guilt-driven people are manipulated by memories.

many people are also driven by resentment and anger. They hold on to hurts and never get over them. instead of releasing them through forgiveness, they rehearse it over and ovver again in their minds. While your offender has already forgotten the offense and gone on with life, you continue to perpetuate the past. Your past is past!!! Nothing will ever change it! for goodness sake, learn from it, then dont ever remember it again!.

many people are also driven by feear.. Oooh no, tomorrow theres an exam, i didnt study!. im finished!. Fear is a self-imposed prison that will keep yourself from what you can become. Learn to step out!. Do not lack behind! Stand out! Finish the race!.

people are also driven by materialism. their desire to acquire becomes the whole goal of their life. so what, i have more, i rule, i have more, i have a more stable life isit?. oh, ill feel more important, ill stand out more?. people will look upon me as great. well.. pride comes before a fall.. The most valuable things in life are not things.

hmm. the need for approval. this allows the expectations of either ur parents or children or even friends to control ur life. One key to failure is to try to please everyone. "no one can serve two masters".

now now. ponder over these for a min or 2. think about it. will move on the next topic soon.

hi. ho ho.. today was quite funn. haha, took a taxi to church.. which was at 9.30 when service was at 10.30!. luckiily, i met daniel who was going to 7-11 haha so i just followed him to kill time. and then we walked back to the school canteen and slacked around.. then everyone started coming out from the 8.30 service so basically, the canteen was crowded. haha. so, we kinda went up to service. and whoah man.. like it was practically emtpy.. till like 10.35, then i turned around and then LOADS of people appeared from nowhere!. like as if some invisible radar tracking device has been turned off. full of peeople!. so anyway, they songs we sang, they rock!. mostly hillsongs!. yay. then pastor julliete(or how u spell her name) like gave the sermon.. sermon.. talk talllk. till bout 12.20.. whoah.. time passed so fast there cos we like sang songs till 11.30. so anyway, communion!. haha tasted yummy :). haha. then we went to have guitar lessons.
Ben couldnt make it till 2pm so we just hanged around play play here and there.. till Ben came, we moved to cafe daily bread to play inside, which i think he didnt get permission from the auntie. haha, she kinda nagged at me.
